Help / Fix / Put missing samples back

Put missing samples back

Find each missing sample by the fingerprint that the project recorded, and write a repaired copy of the Set.

How every fix works

  • A fix never changes your own Set.
  • A fix saves a new copy beside your Set. The copy has [repaired] in its name.
  • Open the copy in Live and check it. Keep the one you like.

The screen is called “Put samples back”. Open it from the Fix tab.

Steps

  1. Press “Scan my whole library”. The scan writes nothing.
  2. When it ends, the screen says how many missing samples it can point at.
  3. Press “Write repaired copies”. A panel opens with the heading “Before we write anything”. It lists each project that gets a new Set.
  4. Press “Write the repaired copies” to continue, or “Cancel”.

When it worked

Nearfield writes a new Set beside your Set. The new Set has [repaired] in its name. Your own Set stays as it was.

For one project

On the Fix tab, press “Put samples back” on the project's row. Then press “Write a repaired copy”.

More about this

If more than one file has the name that a project asks for, see Choose which file a name means.

Read the guide Missing samples for why samples go missing.
