Terms of use
This is a beta draft. A lawyer has not reviewed it yet. The facts about what the app does are settled. The rest can change, and when it changes, the app asks you again.
Beta draft of 4 October 2026.
The beta
Nearfield is beta software. It is still being built and tested, and it will change. The first beta goes to a small group of producers, and access is by approval. The terms for the beta are in the beta agreement below.
Beta agreement
Beta draft. This is what the request form and the app ask you to accept. A lawyer has not reviewed it yet.
When you request access, and again when you first open the app, you accept these terms for the beta. If we invite you by email, you accept them in the app. The app shows these points, with boxes to tick, and asks again when these terms change.
- 18 or older. The beta is for people who are 18 or older. The request form and the app each ask you to confirm it.
- It is a beta. Nearfield is still being built and tested. It will change, it can have errors, and features can change or go away.
- As is, with no warranty. The beta is given to you as it is, with no promise that it is free of errors or right for a particular use.
- Keep your own backups. Keep your own copies of your projects and samples, outside Nearfield, for all of the beta. Do not use the beta with the only copy of work you cannot lose.
- Limited liability. We are not responsible for what the beta does on your computer, or for lost work, lost data or other loss that comes from using the beta, as far as the law allows.
- Keep the beta to yourself. Do not give the beta builds to other people, and do not publish or show features that are not released yet, unless we agree first.
- Access can end. We can end your access to the beta. Your files stay on your computers.

Your music stays yours
You keep every right to your music, your projects and your samples. Nearfield does not store your music on its servers. The beta has no backups.
What the app does to your files
These are facts about the app, stated here so you know what to expect.
- The app never edits a Live Set (.als) you made. When it fixes one, it saves a new copy beside your Set.
- A delete on one computer never removes anything on another computer.
- The app removes a file in only a few narrow cases, and never a Set you made, a file in your own library, or anything in a project that is shared. For example, it can clear a duplicate copy a project collected, after it has checked that your library holds the same bytes, and only when you ask.
What you share
When you share a project, you send its Set, the samples it uses, your master and bounces, and its cover picture to the person you share with.
Price
The beta does not ask you to pay. Nothing about later prices is decided yet.
Ableton
Nearfield is not made by or affiliated with Ableton. Ableton and Live are trademarks of Ableton AG.
