Help / Backup and your computers / Set up a backup

Set up a backup

Copy the projects you pick to another of your own computers. It is encrypted before it leaves.

This page describes a later update. In the beta, the app has no Backup screen.

Open Settings, then “Backup”. You must be signed in, and this computer must be approved on your account.

Steps

  1. Under “Which of your computers keeps the backup?”, choose a computer.
  2. Give the backup a name in “What do you call this backup?”.
  3. Press “Save backup target”.
  4. Read “What to do on the other computer”. Its first step asks you to write to hello@nearfieldapp.com, and we help you set it up. Then press “I've done this”.
  5. Choose the projects to back up.

More about this

The switch “Back up every project you have now” sends all of them. A project you add later is not sent until you turn the switch off and on again.

A computer that holds your backup cannot also share projects with you. Remove it from Contacts first.
