Prepare to move to a new computer

Do this on the old computer. Nearfield writes down what your library holds, so the new computer can tell you what did not come across.

What the move report does

  • It changes no Set and removes nothing. This step writes one list, in the hidden folder of your library.
  • It does not copy your library for you. You copy it yourself.

Steps

  1. Open the screen “Check an earlier move”. You find it on the Samples tab.
  2. At the foot of the screen, find “Moving away from this machine?”.
  3. Press “List what was moved”. Nearfield reads your whole library. This can take a while.
  4. Wait for the line that says the inventory is ready.
  5. Copy your whole library to the new computer. Include the hidden folder.

When it worked

The inventory is saved inside the hidden folder of your library. It is not saved in a project folder.

Next, see Set up the new computer.
