Help / Get started / Save your recovery code

Save your recovery code

Keep the 12 words that let you add a new computer when no other computer can approve it.

On your first computer, Nearfield shows “Your recovery code”. It is 12 words.

Steps

  1. Press “Save the code to a file”. This saves a text file with the 12 words. You can also write the words down.
  2. Type the three words that the screen asks for, then press “Continue”.
  3. Press “Claim this library”. Nothing moves, and nothing is copied anywhere new.
  4. Keep the file somewhere that is not this computer.

When it worked

You have the 12 words in a place that is not this computer. Next, press “Continue setting up”.

More about this

You need this code to add a new computer to your account when none of your other computers can approve it. See Add a second computer.

Nearfield does not keep the code. Nearfield never asks for these words by email, chat or phone.
