Help / Samples / Move quiet sample packs aside

Move quiet sample packs aside

Move a sample pack that no project uses to a holding folder. Nothing is deleted.

The screen “Your sample packs” lists packs such as Splice packs. Ableton Packs are not listed. Live manages them.

It has three views: “Sample Packs”, “Quiet” and “Holding”.

  • “Sample Packs” shows each pack and how many projects use it.
  • “Quiet” shows packs that no project uses, or that none used for a while. Choose a period such as “1 year”.
  • “Holding” shows packs that you moved aside.

Steps

  1. Open “Your sample packs” from the Samples tab.
  2. Open the “Quiet” view.
  3. Press “Move it aside” on a quiet pack.

When it worked

The pack moves to a holding folder on the same drive. It shows in the “Holding” view.

Some quiet packs are still used by an older project. For those, only the files that no project uses move. The files a project uses stay where they are.

Put a pack back

Press “Put it back” in the Holding view to return it where it was.

More about this

Nearfield does not move a pack that sits in a folder you sync to another computer. It says so.
